Ninja Creami Chocolate Protein Ice Cream, with Whey Elite

Ninja Creami Chocolate Protein Ice Cream, with Whey Elite

Ingredients

  • 240ml high-protein milk (Arla Protein works well), or any semi-skimmed milk. For a richer, higher-calorie version, swap some for whole milk or a splash of single cream.

  • Half a banana, for natural sweetness and a smoother set.

  • 1 to 2 scoops of Whey Elite: Triple Chocolate for the richest result

  • 2 tablespoons (around 12g) of unsweetened cocoa powder.

  • Granulated sweetener to taste (optional), such as erythritol or a stevia blend.

  • Half a teaspoon of vanilla extract (optional).

  • A handful of dark chocolate chips to mix in (optional). Use sugar-free chocolate chips if you want to keep it leaner.

Method

  1. Add everything except the chocolate chips to a blender or shaker and blend until smooth with no lumps.

  2. Pour into your Creami tub, keeping below the max fill line.

  3. Freeze flat and level for 24 hours.

  4. Spin on the Lite Ice Cream or Protein setting.

  5. If it comes out crumbly or a little powdery, add a splash of milk and use Re-spin until smooth and creamy. This step is the secret to the right texture.

  6. Poke a hole in the middle, drop in your chocolate chips, and run the Mix-in setting. Scoop and enjoy.

Pro tips

  • The re-spin is everything. A crumbly first spin is normal, and a splash of milk followed by another spin turns it properly creamy.

  • Let the tub sit out for a couple of minutes before spinning, so the machine can work through it more easily.

  • Do not fill past the max line, or it will not spin properly.

  • Freeze on a level shelf for an even set.

  • Triple Chocolate Whey Elite gives the richest flavour, but Caramel Biscuit and Salted Caramel would slap too.

Macros

A full tub is high in protein and far lower in sugar than most shop-bought ice cream, so your sweet tooth and your macros both win. Macros vary depending on milk and amount of Whey Protein used.
